Wouldn't you love to live in a rustic log cabin in the woods? Maybe you could picture yourself living in this sweet Doyles River log cabin. With the amount of people wanting to move out of the city and start a more peaceful life, building a log home seems like a great way to go. Log cabins are not only a very sustainable way to build houses, they are sometimes even cuter and cozier than normal conventionally built houses. They bring us a rustic feel, a very cozy ambiance that not many newer homes have. Especially the older cabins, like this one looks to be. It might even be close to 100 years old. That is the other wonderful thing about log homes, they can stand the test of time, and age with grace. You can see the wood has aged beautifully, giving it a nice and greyish tinge, with the deep brown colours. This makes it look rich and full of character and stories.

This log house is so lovely, and it looks like it would be an even cozier place to be with the autumn leaves falling all around it. It would be the perfect place to go for a vacation too, or live in full time as a couple or a single person. It looks like something out of a movie or something, doesn't it? This one has a very nice and simple design, that evokes a feeling of simplicity and getting back to basics. The stone chimney is also a beautiful feature that you can find on many log homes and cabins. Stones are another very sustainable and earthy material to use when building a house. The chimney would definitely be able to hold in a lot of heat, since the stones absorb all of the heat and then you are left with radiant heat that will last for hours.

Did you know that you can build your own log home for fairly affordable prices? There are many different ways of going about building a log home, and there are some ways that can be for affordable than others. For example, if you don't need a lot of space, then don't build too large. If it is just you and your partner, what do you need a huge, stately 5 bedroom log home for? You will just end up paying a lot for heating the unused space. The best thing to do is build in accordance to your needs. Also, don't be afraid of asking for help to stay on a budget you may have too, or use reclaimed or recycled materials wherever you can, this is a very environmentally friendly way to build a home.

Log homes are not only a great and sustainable home to buy, they are one of the most sturdy houses you can build. They are also very energy efficient, since the thermal mass of the logs is so high and they make wonderful insulators. The logs also act as air filters, filtering out some of the bad toxins in the air, which conventional homes don't do. Over all log homes are amazing and a wonderful choice of building that will last a lifetime.
